'Solar Champions' Green Skills Course

Globe From Home’s 'Solar Champions' green skills course is the first of its kind to provide learners from non-formal and informal backgrounds with the real world knowledge and practical skills to prepare them for careers and initiatives in renewable energy future, while at the same time creating pathways to earning.

Drawing on our pioneering pedagogy which uses real-world learning from authentic sources of knowledge around the planet, this 6-week online program guides learners through a global journey to understand the crucial role of solar energy in combating climate change and advancing sustainable development.

The introductory ‘Climate and Sustainability’ awareness segment takes students virtually to countries around the world to witness the impact of climate change in real time and learn about best practices in sustainability.

In the second specialized module, students delve into the science and importance of solar energy, examining- through virtual visits- global examples of both large-scale solar projects and innovative solar technology applications in smaller communities. This leads learners to a practical training workshop, where they learn to assemble, install, and troubleshoot solar systems, such as solar panel set-ups for households or build solar-powered devices like cookers.

The climate action module challenges students to design and install a solar system or build a solar cooker for a household, helping them gain practical experience, confidence, and empower them to tangible difference in their communities.

The course also includes a module on ‘Green Life Skills,’ providing learners with key personal skills to drive transformational changes and also includes a practical workshop entrepreneurship.

By combining real-world learning, personal development, and entrepreneurial skills, the course equips learners to be active contributors to a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable world.
